Say Hello to the Future Hotels Earth Fund

20 December 2025 · 4 min read

Most independent hotels don't have a sustainability department, a carbon consultant on retainer, or the time to research offset markets. So we built that function centrally, for the whole collection: the Future Hotels Earth Fund.

Here's how it works. Once a year, member hotels send us a handful of operating figures — rooms, occupied nights, energy and fuel use. We calculate the property's operational footprint using the Hotel Carbon Measurement Initiative (HCMI), the methodology built specifically for hospitality. A share of every affiliation fee then finances verified climate projects sized to that footprint — reforestation and ecosystem restoration, habitat conservation, and clean energy.

We're deliberate about precision here. We don't claim a hotel is 'carbon neutral' because it financed some credits — regulators across the EU are right that this kind of claim can mislead. What we do say, precisely: this is a hotel's measured operational footprint, and this is the verified climate action financed on its behalf. Two honest numbers, kept separate.

It doesn't stop at the hotel level. Guests who join the Travellers' Club grow their own personal forest with every stay, funded through the Earth Fund's reforestation projects — a small, tangible way to see the impact of conscious travel accumulate over time.
